Shelton kayaker Sal Monella has seen his share of sand sharks, but never before has he come this close to a great white.
On March 11, Monella was fishing the Housatonic River just north of the Sikorsky plant, when suddenly a great white shark appeared behind him and proceeded to circle his small boat for over an hour. "I got this photo quick with my cell," Monella said.
"When I look behind me, nothing there. When I look on my right side again, right there, it's coming," said Monella, who told ConnecicutSaltwaterFishing.com that the shark was nearly as large as his 12-foot kayak....
