“Tautog are a relatively slow growing, long‐lived fish. Individuals over 30 years have been recorded in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Virginia. Tautog also grow to large sizes, up to 11.36
kg (25 lbs)…

“They mature at 3 to 4 years of age, and spawn from April – September. They undergo seasonal inshore‐offshore migration in some parts of their range, but tagging data indicate they return to the same reefs year after year and do not make extensive north‐south migrations.…”
