• Sound Fishermen Have to Compete With Seals

“We’re all aware of how much bait there is schooling in Long Island Sound, as well as the amount of fish and mammals (including man) who are taking advantage of this bounty…

Nothing can illustrate this more than witnessing a seal snatching a freshly hooked bluefish under the eyes of an unsuspecting fisher***—and that happens much more than one expects….”

*** ”Fisher” is apparently the politically correct term for what was once known as a “fisherman.” Not, of course, to be confused with a “fisher” which is “…a small carnivorous mammal native to North America.” Nor, of course, with a “fissure” which can be “…a break or tear in the skin of the anal canal” giving the individual a pain in the ass.
