“The transition to fall fishing happens gradually. Late August usually brings more frequent feeding periods. Bluefish begin seeking out schools of smaller baitfish and are more often seen on the surface. Striped bass gradually move from night-time feeding, back to the hours of dawn and dusk and eventually throughout the day.

”Striped bass, bluefish, bonita and false albacore begin even earlier in waters to our north off Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Surf fishing enthusiasts especially look forward to this time of year and plan accordingly for weekend and day trips to beaches in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, to catch the fall migration as they move down the coast.…”
