• Taskforce to Curb Dynamite Fishing in Long Island Sound

“A task force has been established to work towards curbing dynamite fishing throughout the Sound.

”Headed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the taskforce also includes officers from the Milford and Stratford Marine Patrol Divisions.

“Acting DEEP Deputy Commissioner Al Bacourt said the work of the taskforce is to monitor and investigate fishermen who use dynamite for fishing.

“’Dynamite fishing has long been a big problem on the Sound, which also causes destruction to our marine resources and also hazardous to human health,’ Bacourt said.”
