”Simply put, it makes no sense to kill the largest stripers, which are almost all females, since they produce the most viable and greatest number of eggs, thereby increasing the potential for a successful spawn and, thereby, a healthy stock.

”One concept that many anglers have proposed is a slot limit, but the other side of that coin is that by lowering the size limit there will be more stripers killed overall. But slot limits work in states such as Florida where they are often combined with closed seasons, as is the case with snook….”
