”Anyone who is contemplating gifting mom with a fishing trip might want to wait until next Saturday, May 18, when fluke season officially opens in Connecticut.”

“If weather forecasters can squeeze out the slightest bit of affection for dear old Mom, this could be the weekend when everything breaks loose.

”Striped bass, flounder, weakfish, porgies, ling, blackfish and cod are biting at the bit, and with the marine forecast calling for a southwest wind of 5-10 knots with waves of 1-2 feet in and around New York Harbor for Saturday and Mom's day, a day on the water would make an ideal gift.”
