• “Waters are warming up on Block Island …”

“;…from a slow start it’s risen to about 54 degrees. Dredging in the channel this past week has brought many fisherman to Coast Guard Beach, casting their lines and trying for fluke and striped bass. Striped bass have been at the island for about a month, recently surf casters have had success catching them on the west side of the island.

”The cabins at Twin Maples are filled with fishermen — mostly surfcasters — using everything from plugs to flies to slug-gos to reel in keeper bass. Off the boat, anglers have had success catching fluke just outside the harbor. In addition, the number of boats on the southwest corner of the island is increasing every day.”
