“Anglers who can remember when the weakfish were abundant in the Sound are getting harder to find than WWI veterans.

”The last time weakfish were in the Sound in any significant numbers was sometime the late 1980s. Since then, the population has seen a steady decline until reports of a single catch (often as not off one of the West Haven beaches) was big news in the tackle shops.”
