“Glass eels are worth nearly six times their weight in silver this year because Asian fish farmers are desperate for baby eels to raise for market. Eels feature in kabayaki, Japanese barbecued eel, and other Asian seafoods, but farmers are unable to replicate the eel’s complex and mysterious life cycle in captivity.”
