• Connecticut, Long Island Sound, Housatonic River Saltwater Fishing Report: 09 APR 2013

Shoo-fly was looking a little lonely at the dock on Tuesday morning.

I-95 bridge repairs still underway as we headed up the Housatonic River

Canada geese appear to have been nesting on some of the marsh islands.

Several boats fishing intensely made it appear that the striped bass were holed up in this area.

The screen on the Garmin verified that the fish were indeed here.

This schoolie was our first fish of the 2013 striper season.

Must be quite a view of the River from a chopper!

Charlie W. got into a fish...

And soon netted a near-keeper.

Not too bad a fish for the first trip of the year:

The fish was a keeper but we released it to fight another day.

Would be a good view from an osprey as well.

Charlie into another fish.

Mute swan.

Not quite a keeper...but still a nice fish.

Another great day on the water.
