• Striped Bass Season Off to “Slow Start” in New Jersey

“The weather’s been spotty over the past week with some comfortable days to get out, and others to stay indoors.

”On the good days, anglers have reported catches of small striped bass from the jetty tips in Monmouth County on small soft baits and plugs. Anglers fishing the surf also have been getting a few bass to bite on bloodworms and clams.

”In the back bays, the waters have been muddy because of heavy runoff, so this has slowed the action considerably. All in all, the season is off to a slow start.”
