“Unfortunately, because menhaden make great fertilizer when ground up and their oil is refined for those "fish capsules" people take, there is a robust commercial fishery for them.

”For decades, a controversy has raged between the commercial menhaden industry that is based in Reedville, Va., where a company called Omega Protein processed millions of tons of menhaden, and environmental groups that point to studies showing menhaden numbers have dipped to their lowest level in decades.
