• Connecticut DEEP Tentatively Approves U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Proposal to Dredge Housatonic River Mouth Area and Dump Sediment off Point No Point



“The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection ("DEEP") hereby gives notice that a tentative determination has been reached to approve the following application submitted pursuant to Section 401 of the Federal Clean Water Act, as amended for a Water Quality Certificate and pursuant to section 307(c)(1) of the Coastal Zone Management Act to review proposed activities for consistency with enforceable policies of Connecticut’s federally approved Coastal Management Program contained in sections 22a-90 to 22a-98 of the Connecticut General Statutes….

”Site Location: Housatonic River south of the Route 1 Bridge and area south of Point No Point in Stratford, CT

”The proposed activity includes the following and will affect coastal resources: the applicant proposes to conduct dredging in the Housatonic River within Milford and Stratford with dredged sediment placement in areas off of Point No Point in Stratford, CT….”
