• Bluefish in Massachusetts Waters

”Bluefish have invaded our waters and fishermen have the best chance to catch one at anytime in history. So there are a few things you need to know.

”Blues have very sharp teeth with very strong jaws to match. You need a steel leader of at least 12 inches and 20-pound test line. Lures that shine and swim will take a bluefish.

”If you are in a boat and see a school of blues don't run your boat into the school, rather float into them, casting as you go. You are likely to hook up on every cast.

”If you catch one, bleed the fish, filet at once and get it on ice for the best taste.”
