Restoring the Striped Bass in NC

There are more than 11,000 reasons anadromous fish runs should be improving on the Cape Fear River, but there also are three obstacles that stand in their way.

“For the first time since 1998, when the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission began stocking the river with young striped bass, state biologists put a native strain of striped bass into the river.

“To be exact, 11,178 of the native stripers were stocked in the shadows of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge on Monday.”
