• Connecticut Fishermen Still Angry About Marine License

“If fishermen ignore the laws, they are liable to be fined for not having a license, in addition to being fined if they have fish in their boat. Law enforcement officials may also confiscate fishing gear….”

• Oyster “Reef Balls” to Filter Bay Waters

“Foundation officials today placed 12 spherical concrete balls into the river in hopes they will turn into a thriving reef. The balls, 18 inches tall and 2 feet wide, are lined with oyster larvae that take at least two years to mature.”

Don’t forget, a 2010 saltwater fishing license is required to fish the marine waters of Connecticut. Also, if you intend to fish above the Merritt Parkway bridge on the Housatonic River, you also need a Connecticut freshwater license. You can purchase these from your local bait & tackle shop, such as Newtown Bait & Tackle, or at Town/City Hall.
