700 to Die in Boating Accidents

“While recreational boating is enjoyed safely by thousands every year, in 2010, there may still be close to 700 fatalities from boating accidents. With this statistic in mind, the Coast Guard is again encouraging boaters to “Wear It!” during National Safe Boating Week May 22-28.”

Plum Island May Be Sold

“Since the infancy of the Cold War, Plum Island has been the site of an animal disease laboratory; access is limited to scientists, support personnel and, on rare occasions, invited guests. Because of its remote location a mile and half off the eastern tip of Long Island's north fork, it frequently has been the target of rife speculation about what really goes on there.”

Don’t forget, a 2010 saltwater fishing license is required to fish the marine waters of Connecticut. You can purchase one from your local bait & tackle shop, such as Newtown Bait & Tackle, or at Town/City Hall.
