4/14 Lower Housatonic River Fishing Report

Charlie W. had the biggest fish of the day.

Although not a keeper, the 26-inch striper put up a good battle on light tackle.

Wednesday was the first day on the water for Val S. He got his first stripers of the season including one on the fly rod using a bright chartreuse epoxy-headed fly that Charlie loaned to him.

Baaaaaaaaaaaad Osprey!

A Maine utility official says an osprey dropped a branch destined for its nest onto a power line, cutting power to about 6,000 customers.

Don’t forget, a 2010 saltwater fishing license is required to fish the marine waters of Connecticut. You can purchase one from your local bait & tackle shop, such as Newtown Bait & Tackle, or at Town/City Hall.
